Race Day, Labor Day, September 5, 2011

Race Day Schedule:

Packet Pick-up Schedule at Rivercrest Pool
Sunday, Sept. 4, 2010

12:00 - 1:30 pm & 5:30 – 6:30 pm

  • We will hold a packet pick-up on Sunday so you can pick up your race packets and T-Shirts.
  • Our volunteer coordinator will be there to discuss your parents' volunteer assignments (in case they have any questions).
  • Members of the triathlon committee will be on hand to review the course with you in case you’re not familiar with it. This is your last opportunity to see the course, discuss transition and get comfortable - so try and stop by if you can! Be sure to bring your helmet and water with you as well if you plan to run through it while you’re here.

Monday, September 5th - Race Day

1. Arrive On Time
Please arrive no later 7:30 am on Monday. If this is your first time participating, you should plan to arrive even earlier. Parking is limited and you will need to get your bikes and equipment down to the race area. Check-in will be shut down promptly at 7:50 am, so do not be late!

2. Go Directly to Registration
As soon as you arrive, please go directly to registration. There will be two registration areas – one for those who picked up race packets on Sunday and another for those who did not.

  • Families Who Picked Up Race Packets on Sunday - For those of you who picked up your race packets on Sunday, you simply need to check-in to get your “race number.” Also bring your parents with you so they can be reminded of their volunteer assignment.
  • Families Who Did Not Pick Up Packets on Sunday - You will need to check in, pick up your race packet, and get your “race number.” Bring your parents with you so they can be reminded of their volunteer assignment.

3. Proceed to Body Marking
Once you have gone through registration, you will go directly to the body marking station.
4. Rack Your Bike(s)
You will be directed to the transition area so you can rack your bike. Please do not rack your bike until you have been marked. You will then be directed to the appropriate lane based upon your age group.

5. Participate in Warm-ups
Our triathlon trainers will lead everyone through warm-ups at 7:50 am.

6. Start the Race

Our race will begin promptly at 8:00 am.

Addition Training Options for 8 - 14 year olds:
Amaiza Fitness Youth Triathlon Training Group

Description:
The purpose of the training sessions is to acquaint the kids with the various aspects of the event, familiarize them with the course, teach them about transitions and, of course, provide them with an opportunity to “train” for the big day. The Rivercrest Triathlon is about FUN and FITNESS, so we promise to make this a positive experience for each and every child. Each training session will include training on all three aspects of the event (new this year!), including:

  • Swimming practice
  • Tips on safe bike riding in a group
  • How to transition from bike to run
  • Fun running drills and practice races
The sessions will be broken down by participants’ age so that the training can be customized for each group based on experience.

What to bring to each training session:

  • Goggles and Towel
  • Water Bottle
  • Bike & Helmet
  • Pool Pass
  • A Positive Attitude!
What to wear:
  • Bathing Suit
  • Closed-toe Shoes (preferably running shoes) and Socks
  • Comfortable Shorts and Shirt
Notes:
  • An adult is required to stay with any child under the age of 6 or those who are not proficient swimmers.
  • If your child cannot attend the training sessions, he/she is still able to participate in the triathlon. Whether your child can attend the training sessions or not, we encourage you to practice for the event. This will help your child feel comfortable on the day of the event.
  • Many kids (even those from outside of our Rivercrest neighborhood), choose to practice their transitions and ride/run the course prior to the actual event. At a minimum, help your child work up to the distances for the swim, bike and run. This will help give them confidence and help them familiarize themselves with the course prior to the day of the event.
  • Check out the web site for the course details. Happy training!
  • Volunteer assistance is appreciated! Please contact Kristin or Laurie if you’d like to help out with our training program.
