Andrew DonnelyAndrew Donnelly, Head Coach
Andrew began swimming with the Curl Burke Swim Club and later swam with the Herndon Commanders where he continued until college. On the Commanders, Andrew was able to compete in numerous meets, championships, as well as sectionals in his junior year of high school. Andrew was a varsity swimmer throughout high school at South Lakes in Reston, VA and competed in Districts, Regionals, and States all four years.

Upon entering his first year at George Mason University, Andrew was on the rowing team while keeping up with swimming on the Reston Masters Team. Andrew recently earned his associates degree in architecture and drafting from Northern Virginia Community College. Andrew plans to attend Catholic University in the fall of 2008.

Andrew’s coaching career began in the Reston Swim Team Association, at the age 15 where he helped out as a junior coach and continued to until the end of his stay on the Glade Pool swim team. In the summer of 2007, Andrew attained the position as First Assistant Coach on the Belmont Sharks, which gave him a good sense of how the ODSL league was run. For the past two years, Andrew has been coaching the YMCA Swim team in Reston, including recently being named head coach.

“I am truly thrilled to become head coach of the Rivercrest Riptide,” says Andrew. “I cannot wait to not only broaden the skills of the swimmers, but also let everyone find the true enjoyment of swimming as I have over the past 15 years of my swimming career.”
