Heather Flor. Head Coach.
The Rivercrest Riptide is pleased to announce the Head Coach of the Rivercrest Ripide is Heather Flor of the Dominion High School Titans. Mrs. Flor teaches twelfth grade English and AP Literature at Dominion. She relocated to Northern Virginia from North Carolina in 2004. She has a B.A. in English and in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Additionally, Coach Flor has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Duke University and an Ed.S. in Higher Education Administration from The George Washington University. At Dominion, Flor serves as team leader for the A's and head coach of the swim team. Coach Flor is also following her passion off the pool deck. She plans to return to Sierra Leone, West Africa in August to teach Summer school enrichment for 70 underprivileged orphans. Heather says she looks forward to working with her Dominion swimmers on the Riptide and is excited to nurture our young swimmers. | Meghan Butt. Assistant Coach. Meghan is well-known in the Rivercrest Community. Meghan has completed her freshman year at the University of Virginia and will be with us a for a short period this year before going to France for a summer internship. Meghan was an accomplished swimmer at Dominion High School and has been coaching since High School. Meghan along with her twin sister Nicole, received a scholarship from the Old Dominion Swim League last year based on an essay they wrote on how swimming has affected their lives. Nicole Butt. Assistant Coach. Nicole was also an accomplished swimmer at Dominion. Nicole, who will be finishing her freshman Year at William and Mary in May, enjoys coaching because she “loves to watch the kids improve while having fun.” |  |  | Maddie Bullock. Jr. Coach.
Maddie is completing her senior at Dominion High School. She plays varsity volleyball, swimming, and tennis for Dominion. Maddie has swam for twelve years, and was DHS Swim Team co-captain her junior year. Her best strokes are the 500 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Maddie will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall and says she looks forward to this upcoming summer swim season, and is excited to once again be a part of the Rivercrest Riptide!” | Justin Jenter. Justin is completing his senior year at Dominion High School. He has been involved with organized swimming for nearly 11 years of his life. He started as a Sugarland Run Dolphin in 1996 and swam for them until 2005. During that period he also swam for two year-round teams including one season with the Ashburn Village Swim Team and one season with the Herndon Commanders. Justing has lettered all four years at Dominion High School and has represented DHS at the regional high school swim competition in the 500-yard freestyle event for the past two years. Justin was also one of the the Top 5 Point Earners for the Riptide in 2008. He is excited to return as a Jr. Coach for the 2009 Rivercrest Riptide swim season and hopes to make it both fun and successful for new swimmers as well as veterans. Justin will be attending James Madison University in the fall majoring in International Business and Pre-Law. |  |  | Daryl Wilkinson. Coach in Training.
Daryl will be a junior next year and has been swimming for 10 years, including two on the varsity swim team at Dominion High School. His favorite stroke has always been backstroke, but Daryl has recently developed a love for freestyle after swimming for Dominion. Daryl dropped three seconds off his 100-meter backstroke at districts this year, finishing seventh overall. He also won the 2008 Coach's Award from Coach Flor. When not swimming, Daryl enjoys lacrosse, football, and house-league basketball . He says the best part about the Riptide is to “see kids from our neighborhood learning a sport that I love . “ | Joey Longo. Coach in Training.
Joey has been on swim team for six years. His favorite event is the 100 Individual Medley (IM). Joey’s favorite part about summer swim team is seeing old friends and making new ones. Joey received the prestigious Wayne Hussa Award from Sugarland Run Swim Team, which is awarded to the swimmer who most exlimplifies hard work, determination and good sportsmanship. Joey also received the 2007 Riptide Coaches Award during the team’s first season. When not swimming, he enjoys playing golf and is on the JV wrestling team at Dominion. |  |  | Matt Noonan. This will be Matt’s seventh year doing summer swimming, and third year on the Riptide. His favorite stroke is a “tie between backstroke and butterfly.” Matt’s favorite part about summer swim team is the camaraderie with other swimmers. Matt received the MVP award last year and the 2008 Golden Goggle Coaches Award for the Riptide. When not in the water, Matt enjoys playing football and lacrosse. | Derek Bullock. Coach in Training.
Derek has been swimming for 11 years. His favorite stroke is butterfly. Derek will be a freshman at Dominion in the fall. When not in the pool, Derek also enjoys playing basketball. |  |
